Within 18th-century walls, art, music and Portuguese cuisine come together in a space where dinner is only the beginning of the experience.
With direct access from Rua de Santa Catarina, at number 3, next to one of Lisbon’s most iconic viewpoints, near Miradouro do Adamastor and hidden inside a historic 18th-century building, Chef Fábio Alves offers a reinterpretation of Portuguese cuisine, in an atmosphere that combines the informality of dinner among friends with the elegance of a space steeped in history.
“There is a more discreet Lisbon, hidden in palaces, streets and places steeped in history, where everything happens more intimately and without haste. It is in this more private Lisbon that we find the identity of The Lisbon Club 55,” comments Duarte Coelho, Director of Food & Beverage at Verride Palácio de Santa Catarina.
Portuguese Cuisine Without Formalities
At The Lisbon Club 55, Portuguese cuisine takes on a generous, relaxed expression, deeply rooted in the memory of the country’s flavours.
The menu revisits some of the classics that define our gastronomic identity: from “Garlic Prawns with Fried Bread and Coriander” and “Bacalhau à Brás” to “Aged Sirloin Bitoque”. Among the desserts, the menu features options such as Pudim Abade de Priscos, celebrating traditional Portuguese recipes brought into the present day. “It is a cuisine that does not seek to reinvent tradition for the sake of it. It prefers to respect it, celebrate it and place it at the heart of a contemporary experience. Because some flavours do not need to be reinvented. They simply need to be done well,” says Chef Fábio Alves.
A Place Where the Night Unfolds and Lisbon Takes on Meaning
The true personality of The Lisbon Club 55, however, reveals itself beyond the table.
The building’s historic architecture sets the scene; works of art add layers of discovery; music and live performances give rhythm to the night. Everything happens naturally, without excess, creating an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and relaxed.
It is a place to arrive early and stay late. For a dinner for two, a table of friends or one of those nights that begins without a plan and ends up lasting far beyond expected.
At The Lisbon Club 55, there is no rigid separation between restaurant, bar, culture and entertainment. There is simply “a place to be”.
At a time when Lisbon has become one of the world’s most sought-after cities, The Lisbon Club 55 offers a different perspective on the capital: more discreet, more local and more sensory.
It is Lisbon through its flavours, but also through its architecture, art, music and its renowned ability to turn a meal into a moment of conviviality.
For those who live in the city, it is an opportunity to rediscover a place they may not yet know. For visitors, it is a way to experience a less obvious Lisbon, one that reveals itself slowly, at the table, between a Portuguese dish and a glass of wine.
