Rolls Royce Phantom – A century of power and influence

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars proudly celebrates the centenary of Phantom, the brands’s most enduring icon and the world’s ultimate expression of luxury. For 100 years, Phantom has stood as a cultural phenomenon: a powerful symbol of influence, success and personal expression.

From its debut in 1925, Phantom has been the preferred choice of royalty, world leaders, cultural icons and creative pioneers. It has been present at defining moments in politics, diplomacy and popular culture – from transporting King George VI and Winston Churchill during wartime strategy meetings, to inspiring John Lennon’s legendary “psychedelic” Phantom V, to serving as the royal standard for Queen Elizabeth II.

Across eight generations, Phantom has remained unrivalled as the flagship Rolls-Royce – a timeless blend of effortless engineering, exquisite craftsmanship and Bespoke individuality. Each era has given rise to Phantoms that reflect not only their owners’ status but also their personalities and cultural significance.

To mark its 100th year, Rolls-Royce designers have created eight original artworks, each inspired by a generation of Phantom and the extraordinary stories that surround them. These illustrations echo a tradition begun in 1910, when Charles Sykes – later creator of the Spirit of Ecstasy – painted scenes of Rolls-Royce motor cars at opera houses and country estates, capturing the spirit of their era.

As Phantom enters its second century, it continues to transcend the automotive world, serving as both the pinnacle of luxury and a cultural icon in its own right. A stage for greatness, a canvas for individuality, and a reassuring constant in a changing world, Phantom remains the ultimate expression of power, presence and legacy.

PRIVATE OFFICE DUBAI: BESPOKE MASTERPIECES ON THE THIRD ANNIVERSARY

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars also celebrates the third anniversary of its Private Office Dubai, the first established outside Goodwood, United Kingdom. Since opening in 2022, the Private Office has created over 100 Bespoke commissions, offering Middle Eastern clients direct access to the marque’s creative and technical expertise.

James Crichton, Regional Director, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Middle East & Africa, remarked: “The Private Office Dubai has redefined how we engage with clients in the region. It has become a centre of creativity and craftsmanship, delivering designs that reflect both individuality and the cultural richness of the Middle East.” Marking the anniversary, five extraordinary motor cars have been unveiled, each embodying personal stories and cultural inspiration.

Highlights include: Emerald and Arctic Super Crystal Cullinan, a striking two-tone finish with gold accents, enriched with Arabic calligraphy and innovative emerald-tinted technical fibre; Phantom Arabian Jasmine, the debut of Jewels of the Kingdom, inspired by Saudi flora, finished in a luminous new Bespoke hue with jasmine-themed artistry; Eminence Ghost, featuring Pebble Paradiso paint with Sapphire Black bonnet, inspired by rising landscapes; Pearl Cullinan, a 90th birthday gift, showcasing mother-of-pearl inlays and Arabic motifs, symbolising gratitude and heritage and Spectre Rose, a tribute from mother to daughter, with bespoke embroidery of a rose motif, blending innovation with deep personal meaning.

Michelle Lusby, Bespoke Lead Designer, added: “These masterpieces represent trust, creativity, and storytelling. We are proud to transform ambitious visions into reality and look forward to the remarkable designs yet to come.” The milestone reaffirms Rolls-Royce’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of luxury and individuality, ensuring that each Bespoke masterpiece remains a timeless expression of personal identity.
