MS Collection Aveiro – Palacete de Valdemouro has once again been included among the hotels recognised by the Michelin Guide, retaining the Michelin Key it was previously awarded. The distinction was confirmed in the 2026 edition of the Guide, announced on 18 September, in a year in which Portugal now has 69 recognised hotels, 16 more than in 2025.
Housed in a carefully restored 18th-century palace, Palacete de Valdemouro is Aveiro’s first five-star hotel and one of the country’s most distinctive addresses. The concept behind the property is inspired by the life and work of Eça de Queiroz, with themed rooms named after characters created by the writer, combining original Moorish details with Art Deco-inspired interiors. The hotel also features Moments SPA, which is open to non-residents, with an indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish bath, gym and a range of massages and facial and body treatments designed to promote guests’ well-being. A member of the international Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) collection, the hotel is also home to Restaurante Prosa, under the executive direction of Chef João Covas, with a menu curated by Chef Rui Paula, and recommended by the Michelin Guide.

Palacete de Valdemouro’s continued presence in the Michelin Guide reflects Aveiro’s growing prominence on Portugal’s tourism map, from the canals of the Ria de Aveiro and the city’s Art Nouveau architecture to an increasingly dynamic dining scene, of which Restaurante Prosa is now one of the most prominent restaurants.
The distinction highlights the care the hotel team puts into every detail of the stay, from the restoration of the building to the personalised attention given to guests, placing the hotel among a select group of Portuguese addresses awarded a Michelin Key.
