The Matriarca restaurant, in the centre of Porto, offers three tasting experiences that not only introduce guests to different wines and their characteristics (including regions and grape varieties), but also showcase a range of Portuguese wine regions, styles, stories and traditions, all within the space of an hour.
One of the tasting options is The Explorer’s Trail (O Trilho do Explorador), which takes guests on a journey through the country’s different wine landscapes, exploring the influence of the climate, the distinctive characteristics of each region and the traditions that have shaped wine production. Prices start at 30€ per person.
Meanwhile, Discovering Port Wine (À Descoberta do Vinho do Porto) focuses more closely on the wine of this city and its diversity, beginning with white, dry and fresh styles, moving through wood-aged Tawnies and culminating in the intensity, depth and ageing potential of the great Vintage Ports. Prices start at 50€ per person.
The Crown Jewels (Joias da Coroa) experience is the most exclusive, bringing together some of Portugal’s most distinctive, award-winning and refined still wines in a more in-depth and sophisticated tasting. Prices start at 70€ per person.

After any of these experiences, visitors can extend their visit at the Wine Bar, in a more informal and relaxed setting, or at the Dining Room, for a more complete and carefully curated gastronomic experience.
Reservations can be made via the website, by email at info@matriarca.pt, or by phone at +351 910 886 628.
