Amidst stunning landscapes and the pure mountain air, there is a true refuge for lovers of good food: Casa do Clube, a mountain restaurant located in Serra da Estrela that combines the best of Portuguese gastronomic tradition with a welcoming and relaxed mountain atmosphere.
Open for six years, this space is a tribute to the spirit of the mountains, with a picturesque interior dominated by granite, wood and shale, and where burel curtains and rustic elements evoke the soul of the region. The atmosphere is informal, perfect for a meeting with friends or a quiet afternoon around a cheese board or regional sausages.
The menu is rich and suggestive, ideal for sharing and socializing. Under the leadership of the talented Chef Vera Durão, a hostess who knows how to welcome guests with a full heart, the kitchen is open all day — with a continuous tapas service — allowing each visit to become a special moment.
Among the dishes we tried and highly recommend, the highlights are the Ovos Rotos, perfect for whetting your appetite, the Succulent Pork Leg, and the robust Wild Boar, with an intense flavor, ideal for cold mountain days. The Almofadinha Serrana, the house specialty, is a real surprise with authentic flavors. Finally, the Chocolate Mousse Cake with vanilla ice cream ends the meal on a sweet and comforting note. All this in a setting where time seems to slow down, allowing you to savor every detail.
For those who want to extend the experience, there is accommodation available at Quinta das Tramazeiras (which we will visit and highlight on a future visit), ideal for a complete mountain weekend. Casa do Clube also shares the spirit and quality of the same owners of the renowned Varanda da Estrela, in Covilhã — a name already known on our gastronomic itineraries and which continues to deserve our visit.
