The Residence Mauritius offers us the best of both worlds in a perfect fusion of tradition and modernity. It is a place full of history and glamour that takes us back to the colonial houses that supported farms at the turn of the century. Spaces that make us dream and realize that refinement has many forms and has always been with us.
Mauritius is located in the Indian Ocean, off Madagascar. It is a tropical paradise that offers much more than the wonderful beaches of white sand and clear water, we have mountains, natural wonders, gastronomy and a diversity of cultures that enchanted us from the first second. It is a magical place where we can disconnect from the world, slow down and surrender to genuine hospitality and the tropical flow of the Island. The resort is located on the east coast of Mauritius, more specifically in the Belle Mare area, characterized by lush white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. The Residence Mauritius is literally on top of the beach, all rooms are somehow connected to the sea, to the vast blue that fills us with dreams, relaxes us and proposes that slowdown that we often need.
It is a family resort where there is nothing missing for young and old alike, it is perfectly suited to couples who find their romantic corner around here and even solo travelers who find their refuge in these parts. The classic service is a school in these parts, the hotel industry at its best with all the refinement and attention to detail, it all starts with the dramatic entrance to the resort, a colonial-style open space, sea views and those special smiles that do not deceive, in The Residence Mauritius everyone can be happy.
There are 135 rooms and 208 suites, intimate spaces that masterfully mix the simplicity of other times with the elegance and colonial furniture with the exuberant sea view. Our suite, facing the sea with two bedrooms, living room and three bathrooms was the perfect place to get into the rhythm of the Island. The soft palette of white and beige tones invaded by sunlight and the blue of the sea creates a unique atmosphere of calm and tranquility. Total comfort and generous areas where we highlight the huge bathrooms, perfect sleep quality, personalized amenities and immaculate service. Probably the final touch of luxury in the suites at The Residence Mauritius is the option of being attended to by a personal butler, for whom nothing is impossible – from taking care of our luggage (packing and unpacking), special appointments, spa and other services.
The cuisine is of the highest quality, whether in the restaurant “The Dining Room”, a buffet where we can find a symphony of tastes and aromas designed to delight the most demanding palates. Mauritius is a unique blend of cultures, Mauritian cuisine is characterized by an exciting medley of Indian, Chinese, European and Creole influences, lovingly crafted using products native to the island and flavored with a wonderful array of exotic spices. “The Plantation” restaurant and beach club is one of the most exclusive places in Belle Mare, a colonial-style house by the sea that offers an original approach to presenting the freshest seafood and Creole cuisine, we had dinner here, in the best company and with a unique refinement. At “The Bar” the signature cocktails and mocktails are a success, but the highlight goes to Rum, there are dozens of varieties of different blends and flavors that delight all guests, a differentiating factor that brings personalization to all the bar service.
Inspired by Zen philosophy, the “Sanctuary” spa features eight treatment rooms and a wide range of services such as a Turkish bath, sauna, massages and hairdresser that make us forget about the outside world, tailor-made programs and treatments, packed with pampering and benefits therapeutic treatments, designed to relieve stress and restore our sense of balance. The massage for two is divine, as is the whole team.
The set of experiences offered by The Residence Mauritius is very complete, in addition to the beach, spa, pools and gastronomy experience, you can always take a tour of the Island with a hotel guide. We did and we loved getting to know all the points of interest on the Island (Troux au Cerfs, Grand Bassin, Chamarel, Black River View Point, Le Morne), the hotel provides a picnic and we set out to discover! We also took a cooking class to learn how to make the famous Creole curry, an experience we loved! Thanks to the whole team, it was excellent and understanding the basis of this fusion of flavors was the best way to merge with the local gastronomic culture.
Whether we are looking for a romantic getaway or a family beach getaway, The Residence Mauritius is an excellent option to relax with the sea, gastronomy and Mauritian sun, the team is excellent and the service immaculate. If we go back? Of course, we should always go back to places where we were very happy…
